eBike Classes

Electric bikes (eBikes) are gaining popularity as a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transportation. To ensure safety and clarity, most eBikes are typically categorized into three classes based on their speed and motor assistance levels.

Class 1 eBikes provide assistance only when the rider pedals, with a maximum speed of 20 mph, making them suitable for leisurely rides and urban commutes.

Class 2 eBikes feature a throttle that allows riders to propel the bike without pedaling, also capped at 20 mph, offering an additional option for effortless cruising.

Class 3 eBikes provide pedal assistance up to 28 mph, ideal for longer distances and faster-paced rides.

Regulations regarding eBikes vary by region, with some jurisdictions requiring riders to adhere to bicycle laws, while others may impose additional regulations such as helmet requirements or age restrictions. It's essential for eBike riders to familiarize themselves with local laws and regulations to ensure safe and legal riding practices.
